Christopher Preston is a Missouri City native.

He was raised here and advocates for the community with heart, soul, and the mission of advancement for all citizens. Now approaching the end of his first term on the council, he is looking forward to continuing the work he has started.

Known for his unwavering commitment to serving his community in various capacities, Chris Preston has directed his focus on improving and building his community. Preston is a native and a proud product of FBISD schools. Upon graduating from Elkins High School, he entered HCC, later transferring to Morehouse College where he earned a B.A. in Political Science.

During his studies at Morehouse College, Chris received various honors, scholarships and awards that nurtured his committed spirit to serve locally and internationally. He led a delegation of students and faculty to assist with the rebuilding efforts in Port Au-Prince Haiti following its 2010 earthquake. He also traveled abroad to study political science at the London School of Economics. Soon after graduation, Chris’ passion for community service led him to found Emerging Ambassadors, a 501c3 non-profit organization which focuses on addressing a broad range of social, emotional and academic issues. Under his leadership, Chris has secured various funding streams and provided aid to Haiti and countries in West Africa.

Over the years, Chris has continued to serve as Executive Director of Emerging Ambassadors and he has developed a greater appreciation for his home here in Missouri City. However, during this time, he has witnessed disproportionate changes and growth throughout various communities in Missouri City. With his relentless spirit to serve, this inspired Chris to lead by example and give back to his home community by running for Missouri City Council At-Large Position 2. He is now seeking re-election to continue his efforts to strengthen and improve our beloved hometown. He is wholeheartedly committed to being a voice and advocate for all the citizens of Missouri City, and, ultimately, it is his desire to strengthen our schools, create safer neighborhoods, foster economic prosperity and create a unified Missouri City.

Initiatives that Chris has launched in his first term and will continue to spearhead if re-elected include:

R.E.A.D. Program

Education is the foundation that thriving communities are built on. I created R.E.A.D. to promote literacy in Missouri City households. The idea was simple.. Create a program at no expense to taxpayers, but with meaningful and lasting results. So far, the program is in its second year and has reached over 400 students!

Chris Preston Male Spring Break Initiative

This impactful initiative provides Missouri City youth with a positive outlet during spring break. The program is open to all Missouri City Middle and High School males. Participants engage in financial literacy seminars, group discussions and learn about self-defense and self-respect.

Hire Missouri City

It is Chris' mission to help better utilize our community’s talent within Missouri City and around the greater Houston area. As your Council Member, he’ll continue fighting for more employment opportunities for Missouri City residents.

MLK Day of Service

In keeping up with MLK’s legacy of community service, we created the MLK Day of service as a way to engage all of Missouri City in community pride. Participants fellowship with neighbors to clean up Missouri City and its parks. The program celebrated its two-year anniversary this past January.

Missouri City Global

We created the Missouri City Global initiative to promote and foster global fellowship with our community and the world. In the last year, we've created strategic partnerships with our local students and students abroad to promote global friendship linkage programs, collaborate and provide aid to developing countries.
